The Energy Saving Trust advice centre and South Wales HECA Forum worked together to organise the “Moving to a low carbon future” seminar and exhibition, at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff in February. The aim of the day, which was sponsored by SWALEC and Excelsior Homecare, was to showcase ways to make houses more energy efficient and reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
The rising energy costs implemented by energy suppliers recently are significant: with a 15% rise a typical gas bill has gone up by £80 - £95 a year depending on your energy supplier. Yet there is an easy way to beat the cost through insulation. Cavity wall insulation will save you over £90 a year, immediately reversing the increase to you, and loft insulation will save you even more: over £110 if you don't have any already.
